NIGHT ON THE ROAD VERSUS BULLDOGS
CLINTON,
S.C. — The
Presbyterian College women’s basketball team, under the
direction of head coach Jessica Vanco, will open play
in the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament
tomorrow night with a ticket to the semifinals on the line.
The Lady Blue Hose women’s basketball team (21-6) is seeded
No. 8 in this week’s tournament and will travel to Wingate,
N.C. to take on the 2006 SAC regular season champion and top
seed Wingate University Bulldogs (22-5) on Wednesday, March
1 at 6:00 pm in Cuddy Arena. PC is
the eighth seed due to playing an ineligible player in the
first 11 conference games. The Bulldogs swept the

January 11 and won 67-66 in Clinton, S.C. on February 8.
Presbyterian is 3-3 in opening round games of the Food Lion
SAC Tournament since 2000, but has lost their last three in
a row including last year’s 70-52 setback to Carson-Newman
College. Wingate is 3-0 against the Lady Blue Hose in the
opening round, but the Blue Hose are 3-1 versus the Bulldogs
in the semifinals. PC has advanced to the championship game
five times and won titles in 1995, 1998, 1999, and 2000.
The winner of tomorrow night’s game will face the winner of
No. 4 Mars Hill/No. 5 Newberry in the semifinals on
Saturday, March 4 at 3:00 pm in Hickory, N.C. at the Catawba
Valley Community Center. The Food
