CLINTON, S.C.
—
Presbyterian College has self-reported to the South Atlantic
Conference and to the NCAA that it played an ineligible women’s
basketball player in 24 games this season, including 11
conference games.
As soon as
the violation was discovered by PC compliance officials and
reported to the SAC and NCAA, the student-athlete was withheld
from further competition.
PC’s record
against South Atlantic Conference opponents in which the
violations occurred will be nullified, and the team will be
seeded eighth in next week’s 2006 Food Lion SAC Basketball
Tournament as a result of these circumstances, commissioner Doug
Echols announced.
The matter
remains under review by the South Atlantic Conference and the
NCAA.
