Blue Becomes Fifth
To Sign With Lady Blue Hose
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head women’s basketball
coach Jessica Vanco announced the signing of Liz Blue on
Wednesday. Blue joins the Lady Blue Hose from Wheeler High
School in Marietta, Ga.
“My coaching staff and I are extremely excited about what Liz
brings to our program,” noted Vanco. “She is an extremely
versatile player. She will probably play in the post for us in
her freshman season, but with her skills we envision her as a
guard in our system in the future.”
The 6-foot-1 Blue was a two-year starter at Wheeler. A captain
during her senior season, Blue averaged 10.8 points-per-game,
8.4 rebounds-per-game and 1.6 blocks-per-game in the 2006-07
season.
Blue shot a team-best 51% from the field during her senior year
and finished the year with five double-doubles.
Her numbers helped her attain numerous accolades, including
All-County plaudits after her senior campaign. The Cobb County
Player of the Month in November of 2006, Blue concluded her time
with Wheeler with the senior academic award, which was awarded
to the player on the women’s basketball team with the highest
GPA on the squad.
Blue is one of five players to sign in PC’s inaugural NCAA
Division I women’s basketball recruiting class. Erica Deahl will
join PC from Lexington, S.C., Erin Doherty comes to PC from
Denver, Colo., Katlin Moore joins the Lady Blue Hose program
from Fort Mill, S.C., while Chelsea Wright will come to the PC
women’s basketball program from Atlanta, Ga.
