Smith's Career Night Helps Lead PC To Win
Over Cobras
CLINTON, S.C. – Morgan Johnson collected
her fourth double-double of the season and Kerianne Blease
acquired a game-high 20 points as the Blue Hose picked up their
largest team point total of the season in a 79-53 victory over
Coker at the Templeton Center.
The 26-point win is the largest margin of
victory of the year for the Lady Blue Hose, who get back to .500
at 4-4 with the victory. Coker falls to 2-6 on the season with
the loss.
Johnson garnered 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The majority of Johnson’s points came from the charity stripe
where she was 6-for-7 on the evening.
The Marietta, Ga. native also mustered one
steal and one assist in the game.
Blease was nearly perfect on the night,
going 7-for-9 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw
line.
The leading scorer for the Lady Blue Hose
entering the game, PC’s Amy Jones ended the win over Coker with
12 points and nine boards. The Brentwood (Ga.) School product
tied her season high with seven assists.
Jones also doled out seven assists in
Presbyterian’s victory over Morris College earlier this season.
Lea Smith had a career night for the Lady
Blue Hose in the win over the Cobras. The freshman from Marion,
N.C. had a career-best 16 points in 23 minutes of action.
Presbyterian led the contest 41-23 at
halftime and opened the second stanza with a Taylor Price layup
that made the game 43-23.
The Cobras would get as close as 15,
trailing the Lady Blue Hose 56-41 at the 9:31 mark of the second
half.
Presbyterian would not allow them to get any closer, going on a
23-12 run to close out the game. Blease scored eight of the 23
points in the run, with six of the eight points coming from
beyond the arc.
Bridget Takach, who also had seven assists
on the night, closed out PC’s scoring on the evening, nailing a
three-pointer with 1:23 left in the game to score the final
points of the game for the Lady Blue Hose.
India Elliot had 10 points in the loss for
the Cobras, concluding the game as the only Coker player in
double figures.
Presbyterian next travels to North
Greenville on Friday, Dec. 15. Tipoff between the Lady Blue Hose
and Lady Crusaders is set for 5:30 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
