Hopkins Eligible To Play
On January 8
CLINTON, S.C. – It was announced today by
Presbyterian College Director of Athletics William B. “Bee”
Carlton that women’s basketball player Sharie Hopkins will be
eligible to play on Monday, Jan. 8 against Lenoir-Rhyne College.
Hopkins had to sit out the first 13 games
of the 2006-07 season due to NCAA compliance issues that were
handled internally by Presbyterian and the South Atlantic
Conference.
A native of Chesapeake, Va., Hopkins played
in 24 games for the Lady Blue Hose last season, starting 17.
The Indian River High School product
concluded her efforts last year by shooting 63.7 from the field
to sit fourth-best in NCAA Division II in the category at the
conclusion of the season. The mark is the school single-season
record.
The 6-foot sophomore averaged 11.9
points-per-game last year and tallied a team-high 175 caroms for
a PC-high 7.3 rebounds-per-game.
The Lady Blue Hose commence SAC action at 6
p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3 against Tusculum in Greeneville, Tenn.
The Lady Blue Hose then welcome Mars Hill to the Templeton
Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6 for their first home league
tilt of the year.
Hopkins will join the team for their 6 p.m.
game against Lenoir-Rhyne in Hickory, N.C. on Monday, Jan. 8
