Lady Blue Hose Sign Two
CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head women’s basketball
coach Jessica Vanco recently announced the singing of two
student-athletes. Erica Deahl comes to PC from Lexington, S.C.,
while Katlin Moore joins the Lady Blue Hose from Fort Mill, S.C.
“Both
of these young ladies bring much needed depth to our perimeter,”
remarked Vanco. “They are excellent students and love the game.
They are going to be a great fit to our basketball family at
PC.”
Deahl is the daughter of Eric and Louise Deahl. She will join
PC student body and the women's basketball program at PC as a
Founders Scholar.
“We
have been watching Erica for a couple years now and we are
excited to have her join our family,” said Vanco. “She is a
great kid with an unbelievable work ethic on and off the court.”
A National Honor Society Member, the yearbook Editor-in-Chief
and the senior class president at Lexington, Deahl was a South
Carolina Wendy’s High School Heisman state finalist.
Deahl played for coach David Long at Lexington High School.
During her time at Lexington, Deahl was awarded numerous
accolades for her play on the court, including South Carolina
Basketball Coaches’ Association All-State team plaudits after
her senior season.
The team captain at Lexington, Deahl was voted the team’s most
valuable player after a 2006-07 season that saw the guard/wing
earn region IV-AAAA all-region honors and garner a spot on the
High School Sports Report All-State squad.
A North/South All-Star game participant, Deahl concluded her
career at Lexington with 1,304 points.
A two-sport star, Deahl is also Lexington’s starting goalkeeper
on the soccer pitch and has won numerous awards for her play
between the pipes, including being named to The State
All-Area team.
Her team’s captain for the 2007 season, Deahl owns the state
record for most consecutive shutouts. She will play in the North
Carolina/South Carolina All-Star game later this year.
Moore is the daughter of Mark and Beth Moore. She will join the
Lady Blue Hose basketball program out of Charlotte Catholic High
School after spending her first two years at Greater Atlanta
Christian. She plans to major in business.
A member of her school’s First Honors, which goes to the top
students at Charlotte Catholic, Moore was voted All-Mecklenburg
County after her senior year and was her team’s Most Valuable
Player her junior and senior year. She averaged 17.5
points-per-game and six assists-per-game.
In total, Moore concluded her career with 1,226 points.
During her time with Greater Atlanta, Moore led was named
Gwinett County’s Player of the Week twice in leading GAC to the
Elite Eight in Georgia as a freshman and a sophomore.
“Katlin
brings quickness and energy to the perimeter,” noted Vanco. “She
is a hustler on both ends of the floor. She has excellent point
guard skills and I am looking forward to coaching her the next
four years.”
