Wright Signs With PC Women’s Basketball

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head women’s basketball coach Jessica Vanco announced the signing of Chelsea Wright on Tuesday. A 6-foot post player, Wright joins the Blue Hose from Whitefield Academy in Atlanta, Ga.

“Chelsea brings size to our team,” noted Vanco. “She is a tremendous athlete and will be one of the quickest players we have had to play in the post. She also handles the ball extremely well for a post player, using her strength to her advantage.”

Wright led all of Cobb County in rebounding in her senior season, averaging 12 rebounds-per-game. She scored eight points-per-game and helped lead Whitefield Academy to the first round of the Georgia State playoffs.

Wright did not just excel on the hardwood for Whitefield Academy as she recently placed third in the Georgia state track and field championships in the 100-meter hurdles, setting a personal record in the event in the process.

Wright is one of three to sign in PC’s inaugural NCAA Division I women’s basketball recruiting class. Erica Deahl will join PC from Lexington, S.C., while Katlin Moore joins the Lady Blue Hose program from Fort Mill, S.C.
