PC’S LENHART NAMED TO VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT III WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY TEAM

CLINTON, S.C. — Presbyterian College women’s cross country runner Katie Lenhart (Atlanta, Ga.) has been named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District III Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country College Division Team announced today.

Lenhart, a junior runner for the Blue Hose, had a 3.81 GPA this year while majoring in English. During the season, she finished 30th at the South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships while earning second team All-SAC honors despite fighting through nagging injuries. In the classroom, she has been selected to the SAC’s Academic Honor Roll two straight years (2000, 2001), named to the school’s Dean’s List three times and posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for two semesters earning selection to the school’s President’s List.

The entire team is made up of 10 student-athletes from nine schools within the district. All 10 members of the team are now on the national ballot for the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-American® Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team, which is scheduled to be announced on Thursday, June 20.

The District III College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. To be nominated for the Verizon Academic All-American® program, a student-athlete must be a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative GPA and a starter or significant reserve on the team.
