Mike Rosolino begins his
first season as head coach of the mens &
womens cross country teams at Presbyterian College.
Rosolino replaces former
assistant coach Leigh Irwin who resigned to return to
teaching at the high school level. Rosolino is no
stranger to the PC cross country teams, having served as
an assistant coach during the 2000 season.
Rosolino, a 1996 graduate
of Rhodes College, brings a wealth of collegiate cross
country experience to the program. He was a three-year
letterwinner in cross country with the Lynx, a NCAA
Division III school in Memphis, TN. Rosolino also ran
track for two years.
His cross country teams won the Southern
Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) championship all
three years he competed (1994,95, 96) and a total
of ten straight years (1990 - 1999) while individually,
he earned all-conference honors as a junior. In the
classroom, he was a two-time academic All-American and
his cross country teams earned Academic All-American
honors all three years that he competed (1994, 95,
& 96).
Rosolino helped lead the
Blue Hose to their best season in program history in
2000 as the womens team posted four meet wins and
eight top five finishes. In addition, the womens
program finished ranked #4 in the Southeast region,
placed third at the South Atlantic Conference Cross
Country Championships and advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
The mens squad posted two meet wins and seven top
finishes while being ranked #4 in the Southeast region
and placed a program-best second place finish at hte SAC
Championships. The team advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
Rosolino was instrumental in coaching the 2001 Mens
and Womens SAC Cross Country Runners of the Year in
senior Zach Braden and freshman Tanith Forrester.
After finishing his undergraduate degree in math
from Rhodes College in 1996, Rosolino went on to the
University of South Carolina where he earned his
master's degree in 1998. Rosolino, 27, a native of New
Orleans, LA., is married to the former Carrie Storm and
the couple have two children - Tanner (1 month) and
Lynnlee (20 months). |
