HOSE WOMEN'S AND MEN'S TEAMS FINISH 5TH IN 12TH ANNUAL
LANDER/CONNIE MAXWELL CROSS COUNTRY INVITATIONAL
GREENWOOD, SC — Running against the elements today, the women's and men's cross country teams battled to finishes fifth in a rain soaked cross country meet.
The women were lead by junior Tanith Forrester who posted a time of 21:15 in the women's 5k race good for ninth place overall. Also leading the women was sophomore Kate Whipple who placed 18th with a time of 22:25. Collectively the PC had a total score of 147 for the meet.
Anderson College won the overall title for the meet with four runners in the top 10 lead by Jessica Merrill who won the meet with a time of 20:09.
The men's race also saw Presbyterian take fifth place overall lead by senior Jack Carmody who posted a 28:57 time and finished eighth overall. Senior Drew Brannon got 12th place overall finishing with a time of 29:33. PC finished the meet with 132 points to finish just ahead of the Newberry College men.
Truett-McConnell took home first place overall with 38 points but only had three runners place in the top 10 overall. First place was won by Travis Smith from USC Spartanburg who ran a time of 26:49 to take the top spot.
Both men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action this coming Saturday September 21 at the Land of Sky Cross Country Classic.
