CROSS COUNTRY MEET
SPARTANBURG, SC — The Blue Hose women's cross country team came away with a 3rd place finish while the Blue Hose men's team finished 6th in Saturday's Eye Opener Cross Country meet in Spartanburg.
The Blue Hose women's cross country team was led by senior Tanith Forrester (Lexington, S.C.) placing 15th with a time of 21:04.25 and freshman Tina DeYoe (Palm Coast, Fla.) placing 21st with a time of 21:26.66. The women posted a total time of 1:51:35.08 with the average time for all runners at 22:19.02.
Furman University won the overall title with a combined time of 1:39:21.02. They also took home the individual title with runner Whitney Sharp running a time of 19:41.26.
The Men's cross country team posted a combined time of 2:30:46.70 with an average time of 30:09.34. Freshman Nate Price (Athens, Ga.) finished in 28:57.82 placing 22nd to help lead the Blue Hose men's cross country team. Freshman Mathew Elliot (Green Sea, S.C.) placed 27th with a time of 29:10.76 helping round out the top finishers for Presbyterian College
Furman University came away with the first place team finish. In second was SAC rival Mars Hill College which posted a combined time of 2:16:13.69 with an average time of 27:14.74. Mars Hill had 4 top 10 finishes with runner Craig Eckstein leading the four with a time of 26:29.40.
Both men's and women's cross country teams will be in action this coming Saturday September 13 at the 13th Annual Lander/Connie Maxwell Invitational in Greenwood, South Carolina.
