CROSS COUNTRY FINISHES FOURTH AND SEVENTH AT LENOIR-RHYNE INV.

HICKORY, N.C. – The Presbyterian College men’s and women’s cross country teams finished seventh and fourth in the 2004 Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational held Saturday morning.

The women’s team finished fourth behind Wingate University, Tusculum College and North Greenville College.

Senior Helen Fout was the first to finish for the Lady Blue Hose as she finished in 10th place with a time of 21:12.67. Sophomore Tina DeYoe (Palm Coast, Fla.) was next in for PC as she finished 16th with a time of 22:10.03 on the 5k course. Junior Amanda Garvin (Lilburn, Ga.) followed DeYoe with a 22nd place finish with a time of 22:34.16. Senior Kate Whipple (Irmo, S.C.) was right behind Garvin with a time of 22:54.33, good for 26th place.

On the men’s side, PC finished seventh behind Lenoir-Rhyne College, Lees-McRae College, Wingate University, Catawba College, UNC-Pembroke, and North Greenville College.

Sophomore Matthew Elliott (Green Sea, S.C.) was first to cross the finish line for PC with a time of 28:10.82, good for 15th place.
