WIN CLINTON,
S.C. – The
Spartanburg Methodist College men’s and the Lander
University women’s cross country teams claimed its
respective team title on Friday afternoon at Presbyterian
College’s Blue Hose Invitational Meet. PC placed third in
the men's race and fourth in the women's race. On the men’s side, Spartanburg Methodist scored a low 43
points to claim the team title as Griffin
Cole led the Pioneers with his first-place finish in
27:34.04. North
Greenville came in second with 83 points followed by host
Presbyterian with 96 points. The Blue Hose were led by Matthew Elliot, who finished second in 27:45.99.
Nicholas
Williams placed 10th in 28:39.69 and Thad Palmer was 15th in 29:19.89 for PC. Lander’s Ivana
Petrovic captured the women’s individual title as she
set a course record with her time of 18:58.85.
The Bearcats edged Southern Wesleyan University for the
team title by one point, 37 to 38.
SMC’s Jocelyn Veit came in second in 19:17.04, while Francis Marion
University’s Kelly
May was third in 20:05.90. Kari
Koch
was
the Lady Blue Hose’s top finisher as she came in 14th
with a time of 21:11.67.
Morgan
Bennight placed 20th in 21:38.24 followed
by Tina
DeYoe
at 21st in 21:40.01. PC will return to action on Thursday, October 13 when the Blue Hose travel to Erskine College in Due West, S.C. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00.
