WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY COMES IN SEVENTH AT WINTHROP/ASICS INVITATIONAL

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s cross-country team took part in the 2005 Winthrop University/Asics Invitational on Saturday morning and placed seventh in the 13-team Garnet Division with 192 points.

Milligan College took home the women’s Garnet team title with a low score of 36 points as the Lady Buffs had six runners place in the Top 15.  Milligan’s Megan Lease claimed the individual title with her time of 19:20 on the 5K-course.  Fellow South Atlantic Conference member, Newberry College, finished 11th with 268 points.

Leading the Lady Blue Hose was freshman Morgan Bennight (Charlotte, N.C.), who took 29th with her time of 22:43.  Juniors Kari Koch (Conyers, Ga.) and Tina DeYoe (Palm Coast, Fla.) rounded out PC’s top finishers as Koch finished the course in 23:15 to place 35th and DeYoe placed 40th with a time of 24:00.  Two seconds behind DeYoe was senior Amanda Garvin (Lilburn, Ga.), as she took 41st in 24:02.

The Lady Blue Hose will return to action on Saturday, September 24 when Presbyterian College travels to Florence, S.C. to compete in the Francis Marion University Invitational Meet.  The women’s race is scheduled to start at 9:15 a.m.
