THREE TOP 15 FINISHES LEAD WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TO FOURTH PLACE FINISH AT LANDER INVITATIONAL  

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s cross country team competed at the 15th Annual Lander University/Connie Maxwell Invitational on Saturday morning and placed fourth in the 10-team field with 89 points.

Southern Wesleyan University took home the women’s team title with a low score of 50 points as the Warriors had four runners place in the Top 15.  Anderson College’s Jennifer Hitt claimed the individual title with her time of 19:14 on the 5K-course.  Fellow South Atlantic Conference member, Newberry College, finished seventh with 194 points.

Leading the Lady Blue Hose were juniors Kari Koch (Conyers, Ga.) and Tina DeYoe (Palm Coast, Fla.).  Koch finished course in 21:36 to place 11th, while DeYoe came in three seconds behind Koch (21:39) to take 12th.  The other PC harrier to finish in the Top 15 was freshman Morgan Bennight (Charlotte, N.C.), who took 14th with her time of 21:41.

The Lady Blue Hose will return to action on Saturday, September 17 when Presbyterian College travels to Rock Hill, S.C. to compete in the Winthrop University/Asics Invitational.  The women’s race is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
