PC Finishes Seventh At
2007 Food Lion SAC Women’s Golf Tournament
Final Results
HICKORY, N.C. –
Presbyterian College’s women’s golf team finished seventh at
the 2007 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf
Championship at the Lake Hickory Country Club at Catawba
Springs. The Lady Blue Hose carded a team score of 780
(389-391).
All-SAC second team
member Kristen Cometto (Lexington, S.C.) led PC’s efforts at
the tournament, finishing tied for 12th with a
two-round total of 171 (84-87). Jessica Parris (Inman, S.C.)
finished just behind at 16 with a two-round total of 174
(88-86).
The Newberry College
Women’s Golf Team shot a 661 (+85) to win the championship
at the event. The tournament was shortened to one day and 36
holes due to dangerous winds on Monday.
The Lady Indians’ title
was their first in school history.
Tusculum’s Shannon
Palenkas was the top medalist after finishing with a 157
(+15) on the par-72, 6,026-yard course.
Tusculum, as a team,
finished second with a 672 (+96) while Wingate (674, +98)
was third.
Joining Palenkas on the
all-tournament team was Newberry’s Franziska Blum and Eva
Cormann, Catawba’s Jaynelle Harmon and Wingate’s Beth
Kirkham.
