HOSE WOMENS SOCCER HOLDS ANNUAL BANQUET CLINTON,
SC Presbyterian
Colleges Jessi Adair
(Decatur, GA) was honored as the womens soccer Team MVP at
the programs annual banquet held Tuesday night. Adair,
a 5-5 junior attacking midfielder, was named team MVP after
earning first team All-South Atlantic Conference honors.
The three-time All-SAC selection has led Presbyterian in
scoring the last two seasons.
The former Decatur High School standout is the career
leader in assists (26), ranks third in career total points (78),
and tied for sixth in career goals (26).
She ranks 12th in SAC history in career
assists and has seven game-winning goals in her career. For her
efforts in the classroom, Adair was named the 2001 SAC Scholar
Athlete Award Winner. She has a perfect 4.0 GPA as an Elementary Education major.
She has been named to the Deans List, Presidents
List and the SAC Commissioners Honor Roll. Blue Hose
head coach Brian Purcell cited 20 players as letterwinners for
the 2001 season. Presbyterian
complied an 11-5-2 overall record this season, finished second
in the SAC regular season, and finished the season as the SAC
Tournament runner-up. Other

Frederick Most Valuable Offensive Player Smith
(Anderson, SC), a sophomore forward, led the team in goals
scored (12), tied for the team lead in total points scored (26),
and had five game-winning goals this season enrout to being
named to the second team All-SAC and the SAC All-Tournament
Team. She ranks
tied for 15th in single season total points, and tied
for ninth in single season goals scored.
For her career, Smith currently ranks tied for 17th
in career goals (14). Most
Valuable Defensive
Player Phillips
(Columbia, SC), a freshman defender, started all 18 games this
season and was a mainstay in the backfield on a team that had a
0.88 goals against average and recorded 5.0 shutouts this
season. Unsung
Hero Counts
(Charleston,
SC), a senior left midfielder, started all 18 games this season.
She finished the season with three goals (one game
winner), seven assists (second on the team), and had 13 total
points. For her
career, Counts finished with four goals, 11 assist and 19 total
points. For her
efforts, Counts was named to the second team All-SAC. Most
Improved Blackburn
(Lexington,
SC), a junior forward, played in all 18 games including eight
starting assignments. She
finished the season ranking third on the team in goals scored
(7) and total points (16). Blackburn also added two assist and two game-winning goals
this season. Scotsman
Club Achievement Award Ball
(Simpsonville,
SC), a junior defender, started in all 18 games this season.
She also contributed to the success of the team in
helping in the 0.88 goals against average and 5.0 shutouts.
For her efforts in the SAC Tournament, Ball was named to
the SAC All-Tournament Team. Coachs
Award Frederick
(Lexington,
SC), a senior midfielder, started all 18 games this season.
She picked up her first career goal this season in the
first round of the Food Lion/SAC Tournament against Mars Hill
College. Frederick
finished her career with one goal (game-winner), two assists and
four total points. |
