BLUE HOSE WOMEN’S SOCCER RANKED #8  IN 2001 NCAA DIVISION II SOUTHEAST REGION RANKINGS  

CLINTON, SC — Presbyterian College women’s soccer program is ranked #8 in the final regular season NSCAA/addidas Regional Rankings announced today.

The Blue Hose (11-5-2) are ranked #8 in the final regular season NCAA Division II Southeast Region ranking. Presbyterian ended their season over the weekend at the 2001 Food Lion/South Atlantic Conference Tournament where they advanced to the championship match. The #2 seed Blue Hose tied #1 seed Tusculum College 1-1 after four overtime periods, but lost on penalty kicks to the Pioneers who were declared champions. Presbyterian advanced to the finals with a 2-1 win over #7 seed Mars Hill in the opening round and a 1-0 double overtime win over #3 Catawba in the semifinals.

The top three teams in the poll advance to the NCAA Division II tournament.  Barton College, who defeated Pfeiffer University in the championship match of the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference (CVAC), will host the winner of the Belmont Abbey-North Florida match.  Both teams were defeated in the semifinal round of their respective conference tournaments.  Belmont Abbey and North Florida will play on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
