BLUE HOSE WOMEN’S SOCCER RELEASES 2001 SCHEDULE

CLINTON, SC – Seven home matches, the dedication of the new stadium along with match-ups with perennial powerhouses Belmont Abbey College and Francis Marion University highlight the 2001 Presbyterian College women’s soccer schedule released today by 13th-year head coach Brian Purcell.

PC opens the 2001 season at home against King College on August 31 and then begins conference play as they visit Newberry College on September 5 that starts a five-match road trip.  During the road trip, PC will take on Longwood College (9/8), Lenoir-Rhyne College (9/12), Belmont Abbey College (9/15), and USC Aiken (918).

The Blue Hose return home on September 22 to face the Eagles of Carson-Newman College.  PC’s biggest conference matchup will come on September 29th when defending SAC champion Tusculum College enters Martin Stadium at Edens Field.  This game will make history at Presbyterian College as Martin Stadium will be dedicated that night between the men’s and women’s matches.

“We’re looking forward to the upcoming season and the highly competitive schedule that awaits us,” said Purcell.  “We have a lot of new faces playing key roles on our team this season and our tough non-conference schedule will prepare us for the long SAC regular season run.”

PC returns to the road with a trip up to Wingate, NC to face the Bulldogs of Wingate University on October 2.  The Blue Hose return to Clinton for three straight home matches highlighted by Francis Marion University on October 5 follow by Mars Hill College on October 10 and finally Gardner-Webb University on October 12.

The Blue Hose then travel to Lander University on October 17 before Queens College comes to town on October 23, for the final home regular season match.  PC finishes the regular season in Salisbury, NC when they face Catawba College on October 27.

The end of October and the beginning of November has the Blue Hose competing in the annual Food Lion /South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship with the top four seeds hosting first round matches on Oct. 31.  Winners of first round matches will advance to the final four held in Greeneville, TN as part of the second annual SAC Fall Festival, hosted by Tusculum College November 3-4.
