#8 BLUE HOSE RUN PAST LADY PACERS 4-1 IN WOMEN’S SOCCER ACTION

CLINTON, S.C. — The #8-ranked Blue Hose women’s soccer team shook off a sluggish start and a 1-0 deficit to score four unanswered goals to defeat USC Aiken 4-1 in women’s soccer action Monday night at Martin Stadium.

The Blue Hose (7-0-0) found themselves down 1-0 just minutes into the match as USC Aiken’s freshman midfielder Melissa Schnoering (Corpus Christi, Tex.) scored on a breakaway at the 1:16 mark of the match. The goal, which was assisted on by Lady Pacers’ freshman forward Jodi Kulinitch (London, Ontario), was the first allowed by Blue Hose junior goalkeeper Aimee Tatom (Irving, Tex.) this season.

The lead for the Lady Pacers (2-2-0) didn’t last long as the Blue Hose struck four minutes later at the 5:37 mark as junior forward Delisa Smith (Anderson, S.C.) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore midfielder Kristin Ryer (Lilburn, Ga.).

PC took the lead for right before halftime when freshman forward Elizabeth Orstadt (Marietta, Ga.) scored off a double assist from freshmen midfielder Megan Smith (Greenville, S.C.) and Brittany Nollner (Lilburn, Ga.) at the 41:36 mark.

The second half saw PC’s Smith score her second goal on the night at the 53:48 mark off an assist from sophomore forward Noel Livernois (Greenwood, S.C.). PC’s Orstadt finished off the scoring for the Blue Hose as she scored her second goal of the night at the 83:24 mark off an assist from sophomore midfielder Ashley Cooke (Roswell, Ga.).

PC’s Tatom and freshman Megan Mueller (Kingsport, Tenn.) split time in goal tonight with Tatom allowing one goal in 85 minutes of action. The Lady Pacers also split time in goal with sophomore Shannon Hobbs (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) getting the start and allowing three goals but picking up five saves. Freshman Amber Markley (Lexington, S.C.) tallied 33 minutes of action on the night allowing one goal and registering one save.

The #8th-ranked Blue Hose return to action on Saturday, September 28 when they travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. to take on Carson-Newman College at 2:00 pm. USC Aiken returns to action on Wednesday, September 25 when they travel to Greenwood, S.C. to take on Lander University at 4:00 pm.
