McSHEA
SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE WOMENS SOCCER
CLINTON,
S.C. Kaitlin McShea has signed national letter
of intent to play womens soccer at Presbyterian College
announced today by head coach Brian
Purcell.
McShea, a 5-7 midfielder,
is a native of Mauldin, S.C. where she plays for Mauldin High
School and head coach Gwynne
Armstrong. Her team is currently ranked #1 in the state of
South Carolina with a 15-0 mark on the season. Last year she
helped lead the Mustangs to a 25-1 overall record and a runnerup
finish for the state championship. In addition, she has helped
lead Mauldin High School to three straight region championships
and was a member of the 2000 state championship team. During the
2002 season she led the team with 33 assists as well as 10
goals.
In club ball, she plays for
the St. Giles Goalbusters for head coach Andrew
Burr. She has also been selected to participate in the South
Carolina Olympic Development Program for the last four years.
In the classroom, she has
been named to the Whos Who Among Americas High School
Students (2002-03) the National Honor Society (2002-03), the
National Art Honor Society (2002-03), and the National Honor
Roll (2002-03). She has received the Governors Achievement
Award and the Palmetto Girls State Award.
We are very pleased to
add a student-athlete of Kaitlins ability and experience to
our squad, said Purcell.
McShea becomes the fifth
signee of the 2003 Blue Hose womens soccer recruiting class.
She joins Claire Joyce
of Aiken, S.C., Lindsey
Leffler of Rocky Mount, Va., Amanda
Rossie of Lilburn, Ga., and Ginny
Wolfe of Lexington, S.C. who have already signed with
Presbyterian College back in February.
The Blue Hose are coming off another successful
season which saw them post a 12-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 record in
the South Atlantic Conference regular season, good for second
place tie with Lenoir-Rhyne College.
