DORANDO SIGNS WITH BLUE HOSE WOMEN’S SOCCER
CLINTON,
S.C. — Missy Dorando
has signed a grant-in-aid to play women’s soccer at
Presbyterian College announced today by head coach Brian
Purcell.
Dorando,
a 5-5 forward/midfielder, is a native of Fort Mill, S.C. where
she plays for Fort Mill High School and head coach Matt
Carper. This past season, the senior captain, helped lead
Fort Mill to a 13-8-0 overall record including a 6-8-0 mark
versus region competition. In addition, her team finished the
season ranked 3rd in the region and 15th in the state.
Individually, she played in all 21 games and tallied 50 total
points on 23 goals and four assists.
During
her high school career, Dorando received numerous individual
honors including being a three-time all-region selection. She
led her high school in either scoring or assists in each of the
last three years and helped her team win the 2000 SCYSA state
championship.
“We
are very pleased to add a student-athlete of Missy’s talent
level to our squad,” said Purcell. “She will be a great
addition to the program.”
Dorando
becomes the sixth signee of the 2003 Blue Hose women’s soccer
recruiting class. She joins Claire
Joyce of Aiken, S.C., Kaitlin
McShea of Mauldin, S.C., Lindsey
Leffler of Rocky Mount, Va., Amanda
Rossie of Lilburn, Ga., and Ginny
Wolfe of Lexington, S.C. who have already signed with
Presbyterian College.
The
Blue Hose are coming off another successful season which saw
them post a 12-4-1 overall and 4-2-1 record in the South
Atlantic Conference regular season, good for second place tie
with Lenoir-Rhyne College.
