KENNESAW STATE ADVANCES TO SOUTHEAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH WITH 4-0 VICTORY OVER PRESBYTERIAN

KENNESAW, GA — Four different Kennesaw State players scored and four others registered assists as the Owls downed Presbyterian 4-0 in the semifinals of the Southeast Regional Championships at the KSU Soccer Field.

Kennesaw State (21-1-0) scored the matches first goal when Laura Tucker (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) grounded in her 19th goal of the season off assists by Alissa Saylor (Fayetteville, Georgia) and Jessie Fream (Woodstock, Georgia).

The Blue Hose (14-6-0) kept the Owls close for the better part of the match. Kennesaw State had three scoring chances ricochet of the cross bar and the post during a thirty minute span between the first and second halves. Fream hit the crossbar in the 31st minute and then Tucker saw two of her shots careen off the pipes in the early stages of the second half.

Presbyterian goalkeeper Aimee Tatom (Irving, Texas) stopped ten Kennesaw State shots but the Owls offense closed out the match quickly in the final six minutes. Defender Katrina Hirsch (Marietta, Georgia) headed in Saylor's corner kick in the 85th minute to make the score 2-0.

The Owls promptly added goals by Ariahn Dasent (Lange Park, Trinidad) in the 86th minute and Fream scored her 19th goal of the season in the 88th minute to finish out the scoring.

Kennesaw State out shot the Blue Hose 24-8. The Owls goalkeeper Jessica Marek (Huntsville, Alabama) had five stops for the Owls who advanced to their second straight Sweet Sixteen appearance.

Megan Smith (Greenville, SC) had three shots for Presbyterian while Claire Joyce (Aiken, SC) had two shots on goal for the Blue Hose.

Kennesaw State advances to Sunday's Championship Match against Tusculum at 2:00 p.m.
