PC DEFEATS #17 RANKED TUSCULUM COLLEGE 2-0 IN WOMEN'S SOCCER ACTION

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College women's soccer team defeated #17 ranked Tusculum College 2-0 today at Martin Stadium. The Blue Hose improve to 8-2-0 and 3-1 in SAC league play, while the Pioneers fell to 7-3 and 2-1 n league play.

In the first half, PC's sophomore forward Jennifer Merritt (Easley, S.C.) scored her fifth goal of the year at the 24:19 mark on an assist from freshman forward Claire Joyce (Aiken, S.C.). The Blue Hose out shot the Pioneers 7-2 in the first half and took the 1-0 lead into halftime. 

In the second half, the Pioneers out-shot PC 6-2 but could not net a goal. Midway through the second half, PC's sophomore midfielder Brittany Nollner (Lilburn, Ga.) connected on her first goal of the year to give the Blue Hose a 2-0 lead on an assist from senior midfielder Delisa Smith (Anderson, S.C.). 

Presbyterian's senior goalkeeper Aimee Tatom (Irving, Tex.) was credited with her fifth shutout of the year, while saving two shots. Tusculum's senior goalkeeper Meghan Laue (Nicholasville, Ky.) tallied two saves but gave up two goals.  

The Blue Hose return to action next Wednesday, October 8 when they  face Wingate University on the road in a South Atlantic Conference match.
