LETIEN AND LeVETT SIGN WITH BLUE HOSE
WOMEN’S SOCCER PROGRAM
CLINTON,
S.C. - Lauren Letien and
Michelle LeVett have signed national letter of intents to play
women's soccer at Presbyterian College announced today by head
coach Brian Purcell.
Letien,
a 5-6 forward, is a native of Sumter, South Carolina where she
attends Laurence Manning Academy. During the club season she
plays for the Sumter Soccer Club. She served as a captain during
the fall season for her club team and finish the season ranked
first in the Midstate Girl’s Soccer League (MSGL) U-18
Girl’s Division in the state of South Carolina in goal
scoring, total points, third in assists and was named her team's
MVP.
“Lauren
Letien is a player that we are particularly excited about
because we think she is a true ‘diamond in the rough,’”
said Purcell. “Lauren does the one thing that is most
irreplaceable. Lauren
scores goals. I
have never seen her play when she has failed to score.
The adjustment to a higher level will be significant for
her, but, she has tremendous natural goal scoring instincts.”
LeVett,
a 5-6 forward/midfielder, is a native of Greer, South Carolina
where she plays for Riverside High School and head coach
Terry Archenhold. This past season she was named the 2003
3-A Soccer Player of the Year by the South Carolina Coaches
Association of Women’s Sports while also being named her
team’s Best All-Around Player and an All-Region selection.
“Michelle’s
best quality may be her versatility.
She can play as a forward or as a center or outside
midfielder. She
possesses terrific speed and is a very experienced player”
Letien
and LeVett become the fourth and fifth signees of the 2004 Blue
Hose women’s soccer recruiting class. In February, Maggie
Carruth of Roswell, Ga., Millie
Green of Columbia, S.C., and Erin
Sinkuler of Roswell, Ga. also signed with Presbyterian
College.
The
Blue Hose are coming off another successful season which saw the
team post a 14-6-0 overall record and 5-2-0 record in the South
Atlantic Conference regular season, good for second place tie
with Catawba College. PC finished runner-up for the Food
Lion/SAC Tournament championship and received an at-large bid to
the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The bid was the fifth
