Women’s Soccer Tournament

Semifinal #1 -- #5 seed Presbyterian College (8-6-2) vs. #1 seed Tusculum College (14-3-1)
Tusculum defeats Presbyterian 4-1

CLINTON, S.C. --  Tusculum College scored four second half goals to break a scoreless tie to take home a 4-1 victory over Presbyterian College in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer semi-final on Friday night at Martin Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, freshman Courtney Hambel (Melbourne, Fla.) knocked in her fourth goal of the season in the 46th minute.

In the 60th minute, Tusculum made it 2-0 on junior Denise Fliesser’s (London, Ontario, Canada) fourth goal of the season.

The Lady Blue Hose made it 2-1 in the 72nd minute on a breakaway goal by Claire Joyce (Aiken, S.C.).

Tusculum rounded out the scoring with two goals in the 78th minute. On the first goal, senior Elaine Knudsen (Amelia, Oh.) took a shot that bounced off a PC defender and into the net. Hambel added her second goal of the night to round out the scoring for Tusculum.

With the victory, Tusculum will move on to the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference finals tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
