PC FALLS AT #12 CARSON-NEWMAN

 JEFFERSON CITY , Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles soccer team opened defense of their South Atlantic Conference (SAC) title on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the visiting Blue Hose of Presbyterian College 5-2 at McCown Field.

The Lady Eagles scored the only goal of the first half when Zarmina Kasparites  (Cape Coral, Fla.) took an assist from Erica Stegner (Nicholasville, Ky.) for a cross goal in the 33^rd minute. The score would remain 1-0 at the half.

Claire Ramsdale  (Birmingham, England) scored on a cross header from Jennifer Bock  (Stevensville, Mich.) in the 47^th minute and Bock would add another goal in the 50^th minute off an assist by Rebecca Angus (Middlesborough, England). The Blue Hose would answer with a goal of their own only 11 seconds later as Claire Joyce (Greenville, S.C.) broke away for a long goal. Ginny Wolfe had the assist.

The Blue Hose would cut the lead to 3-2 when Megan Smith (Easley, S.C.) found Lindsey Leffler  (Rocky Mount, Va.) streaking in front of the net for a goal in the 77^th minute. Angus would score the final two goals of the match as she had unassisted goals in the 78^th and 90^th minute. Carson-Newman goalkeeper Melissa Terrell (Medina, Ohio) picked up the win in goal for C-N as she had seven saves on the day. 

PC will be back in action Wednesday, September 22, 2004 as they host Newberry College in a 7:00 contest.
