PC FALLS AT #12 CARSON-NEWMAN

 JEFFERSON CITY , Tenn. The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles soccer team opened defense of their South Atlantic Conference (SAC) title on Sunday afternoon as they defeated the visiting Blue Hose of Presbyterian College 5-2 at McCown Field.

The Lady Eagles scored the only goal of the first half when Zarmina Kasparites  (Cape Coral, Fla.) took an assist from Erica Stegner (Nicholasville, Ky.) for a cross goal in the 33rd minute. The score would remain 1-0 at the half.

Claire Ramsdale  (Birmingham, England) scored on a cross header from Jennifer Bock  (Stevensville, Mich.) in the 47th minute and Bock would add another goal in the 50th minute off an assist by Rebecca Angus (Middlesborough, England). The Blue Hose would answer with a goal of their own only 11 seconds later as Claire Joyce (Greenville, S.C.) broke away for a long goal. Ginny Wolfe had the assist.

The Blue Hose would cut the lead to 3-2 when Megan Smith (Easley, S.C.) found Lindsey Leffler  (Rocky Mount, Va.) streaking in front of the net for a goal in the 77th minute. Angus would score the final two goals of the match as she had unassisted goals in the 78th and 90th minute. Carson-Newman goalkeeper Melissa Terrell (Medina, Ohio) picked up the win in goal for C-N as she had seven saves on the day. 

PC will be back in action Wednesday, September 22, 2004 as they host Newberry College in a 7:00 contest.
