LADY BLUE HOSE AND LADY INDIANS BATTLE TO 1-1 TIE

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College and 13th-ranked Catawba College battled to a 1-1 tie in women’s soccer action Saturday night at Martin Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, the Lady Blue Hose (7-6-1, 3-3-1) jumped on the board first in the 62nd minute.  Junior Jennifer Merritt (Easley, S.C.) lofted a cross to sophomore Claire Joyce (Aiken, S.C.), who knocked it past Catawba junior goalie Catherine Balentine for the games first goal.

Catawba (12-1-2, 4-1-2) later tied the match in the 76th minute on a goal by sophomore McKenzie Burman (Rolesville, N.C.). Sophomore Kelly Fearman (Allison, ONT, Canada) and junior Kyley Thompson (Hagerstown, Md.) had the assists.

Both teams had chances in the overtime period, but both goalies came up with big saves to preserve the tie.

PC freshman goalie Brittany Pecora finished the game with six saves, while Balentine finished with seven.
