#23 LADY BLUE HOSE SOCCER WINS OPENER AGAINST USC-UPSTATE

SPARTANBURG , S.C. On the strength of Elizabeth Ortstadt’s goal, the Presbyterian Lady Blue Hose defeated the USC Upstate Spartans by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday night.

Ortstadt’s goal came at the 40:51 mark on a cross from Claire Joyce.  The Spartans came close to a score in the closing minute of the match.  Freshmen Kristen Baird’s shot missed by inches to the right which would have pulled the Spartans to within even of the Blue Hose.

The Spartans attempted nine shots to only five for PC.  Erin Sinkuler had three saves for the Lady Blue Hose while junior Diana Wabnitz recorded two saves for the Spartans .

PC , who is #23 nationally in the NCSAA/Adidas Preseason Poll, improves to 1-0-0 on the season.  USC Upstate falls to 1-1-0.

PC will travel to Morrow, Ga. Sunday as they face Clayton State and College University in a 2:00 p.m. match. The Spartans will travel to Miami Shores , FL to play in the Barry University Invitational Friday through Sunday.
