Presbyterian Wins Easily Over Erskine

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian’s Millie Green scored three goals to record a hat trick and help lead the Blue Hose to an 8-0 win over Erskine (0-6) before 171 people at Martin Stadium on Wednesday evening. Green now has a team-high five goals on the season.

Erin Sinkuler and Abby Young both played a half between the pipes for the Blue Hose to combine to acquire the team’s first shutout of the 2006 campaign.

The offensive outpouring on the night for Presbyterian saw five different Blue Hose women find the back of the net.

Ginny Wolfe commenced the game’s scoring by securing her first goal of the year on a goal in the ninth minute of the contest. A little under 10 minutes later Wolfe found the net once again on a shot that beat Erskine starting goalkeeper Katy Jackson to the left corner.

Green scored her first goal six minutes later to place PC ahead at 3-0. Green’s goal at the 24:30 mark would be the final of the first period for the Blue Hose.

Presbyterian came out firing in the second stanza, scoring two minutes into the half. Green tallied the next two goals to give Presbyterian a commanding 6-0 advantage.

With a little over 12 minutes to go in the contest defender Lindsey Leffler was taken down in the 18-yard box by a Flying Fleet defender. Leffler was able to shake it off and take the penalty kick shortly thereafter, calmly placing the ball into the upper left hand corner of the goal.

Tricia Bryan with just two minutes left in the game was finally able to find the back of the net, smoothly besting an Erskine defender’s advances and then rocketing the soccer ball into the back of the net in the right corner to set the game at the final score of 8-0.

Presbyterian (2-1) welcomes Lenoir-Rhyne to Martin Stadium for a 7 p.m. start on Saturday, Sept. 9. The match will be the first conference game of the year for the Blue Hose.
