Falls Short Against LMU
Harrogate, Tenn. – Presbyterian scored the first goal of the
match in the first 10 minutes of the game, but allowed three
unanswered goals – including two by Heloisa de Oliveira – to
fall 3-1 to Lincoln Memorial.
Clair Joyce netted the Blue Hose goal at the 7:57 mark on a
breakaway after getting a long pass from teammate Ginny Wolfe.
With the score 1-0 in favor of the Blue Hose going into the 15th-minute,
Lincoln Memorial’s Oliveira garnered her ninth goal of the
season to square the game at 1-1.
Just over 15 minutes later Oliveira and teammate Danielle Dos
Santos were able work together to pick up the game-winner and
Oliveira’s 10th of the season.
The Blue Hose and Railsplitters fought neck-and-neck for the
rest of the match. In fact, the two teams combined for 26 shots
in the game, including 12 from the Blue Hose.
Nevertheless, Dos Santos feed Camilla Verissimo in the final
minute of the contest to tack on an insurance goal for LMU and
set the final score at 3-1.
Presbyterian next travels to Morrow, Ga. to face off against
Clayton State at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2.
