PURCELL ANNOUNCES 2006 BLUE HOSE

WOMEN'S SOCCER SIGNING CLASS

CLINTON, S.C. – Head Coach Brian Purcell announced today that Rachel Lamb of Conyers, Ga (Salem High School), Abby Young of Charlotte, NC (Myers Park High School), Britney Horton of Columbia, SC (Irmo High School), and Tricia Bryan of Pawleys Island, SC (Waccamaw High School) have signed to play soccer for the Blue Hose this coming fall.

“This is a terrific class and we are extremely excited about getting them here next fall and integrating them into our system,” said Purcell.

Rachel Lamb – a 5-5 mid-fielder comes to PC from Salem High School where she played under PC alum and All-American Heather Jones Richardson. Lamb is also a member of the GSA Phoenix club team. Lamb was a three-time Rockdale Citizen first Team member and is a two-time member of the Atlanta Journal Constitution first Team. Lamb has recorded 29 goals and 47 assists in her high school career. Lamb was also a member of the National Honor Society, the Beta Club, and served as Vice-President of her senior class.

Abby Young – a 5-8 goalkeeper comes to the Blue Hose from Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC. Young was also a member of the Charlotte Soccer Club. Young received All-Conference, All-Region and All-State honors. She was also named to the All-Charlotte Observer first team. Young was also a member of the Super Y Olympic Development Program team and is also a member of the National Honor Society and has received the NCHSAA Scholar Athlete award.

Britney Horton – a 5-6 defender/forward at Irmo High School, where she plays for PC alum and former assistant coach Heather Fredrick. Through her junior season she posted 29 goals and 30 assists. Horton also played for the CESA club team under head coach Andrew Hyslop. Horton was named to the NSCAA Adidas All-South Region Team, received All-Region honors for 3 years, and was a three-year member of the South Carolina Olympic Development team. During high school Horton was a member of the student council and the Beta club.

Tricia Bryan – a 5-8 mid-fielder comes to PC from Waccamaw High School where she played under former PC assistant Shannon Champ. Bryan was also a member of the state-finalist Coastal Calypso club team. She was also a three-year member of the South Carolina Olympic Development team and has received All-Region honors for three years. During her high school career she posted 68 goals and 29 assists going into her senior season. She was also named the MVP of her high school team.

“I am particularly excited about the experience level of this group. They have all played in some of the most competitive club programs in the southeast,” said Purcell.
