PC Women’s Soccer Signs Keel

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head women’s soccer coach Brian Purcell announced recently the signing of Alicia Keel.

Keel comes to the Lady Blue Hose soccer program out of Lexington High School in Lexington, S.C. where she played for Chris Fryland.

Keel is the daughter of Barry and Sandra Keel. A forward/midfielder, Keel played her club soccer for Columbia United Elite and head coach Phil Savitz.

Named to the 4A All-State team, Keel scored eight goals and had 16 assists this past season. A team captain both her junior and senior seasons, Keel was chosen to The State’s All-Area team and was named to the region’s All-Area squad.

Keel is strong in the classroom in addition to her prowess on the pitch. She is a National Society of High Scholars member and was chosen Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

Keel is one of three PC signings to garner All-State accolades recently. Riverside High School standout Renee Ballew was chosen to the 3A All-State squad where she was joined by Eastside High School’s Emily Davis.

A defender/midfielder, Ballew has been a member of Riverside’s past two state championships. She has been all-region for the past four seasons and All-State for three seasons.

Ballew is also a member of the CESA 88 Girls Premier squad that has appeared in the regionals four times under the direction of head coach Andrew Hyslop.

The younger sister of current Lady Blue Hose soccer player Laura Davis, Emily Davis is a midfielder/defender. Davis has received a plethora of awards while at Eastside, including All-State accolades the last two seasons and the 2004 Gatorade Rookie of the Year award.

Davis plays her club soccer for Hyslop’s U18 CESA Premier team, who were the champions of South Carolina women’s soccer at the U14, U16 and U18 level.
