NO. 31 LADY BLUE HOSE ROLL PAST LADY EAGLES 8-1 IN WOMEN’S TENNIS ACTION

CLINTON, S.C. — The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team swept all three doubles matches and five of six singles matches en route to a 8-1 victory over Carson-Newman College in South Atlantic Conference women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Courts. The No. 31-ranked Lady Blue Hose improve to 11-3 on the season and 5-0 in league play, while Carson-Newman falls to 5-6 overall, 2-3 in the SAC.

PC’s Brittany Landford and Lisa Moyer picked up the first doubles point with an 8-1 victory over Kristi Kirkland and Emily Sorah at No. 2 flight. Lauren Brown and Kari Fuller added to the lead with a 8-1 victory over Cassie Moulton and Kellie Rimmer at No. 3, while Catherine Bankhead and Abby Diminich slipped past Erika Bellettini and Tessa Caprio 8-6 at the top flight and give PC a 3-0 advantage.

Diminich defeated Kirkland 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 and Brown rolled past Caprio 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 to clinch the match for the Lady Blue Hose. Landford increased PC’s lead to 6-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sorah at No. 4, but the Lady Eagles got on the scoreboard with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at the top singles flight with Bellettini’s win over Bankhead. PC’s Kathryn Kleckley defeated Jennifer Jones 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5 and Brooke Toluba got past Moulton 7-6 (5), 6-2 at No. 6 to seal the victory for the Lady Blue Hose.
