LADY BLUE HOSE ROLL PAST BUCCANEERS 5-2

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team won the doubles point and four of six singles matches en route to a 5-2 victory over NCAA Division I Charleston Southern University Thursday afternoon at at the Templeton Courts. The No. 25 Lady Blue Hose are now 4-1 overall, while Charleston Southern slips to 0-4 on the year.

The victory is the third this season for the Lady Blue Hose over an NCAA Division I opponent.

Junior Lauren Brown (Gaffney, S.C.) and sophomore Kari Fuller (Suwanee, Ga.) defeated CSU's team of senior Jessica Bair (Moncks Corner, S.C.) and sophomore Nazli Kutuk (Ankara, Turkey) 8-0 at No. 2 doubles to open the match. PC secured the doubles point at the No. 3 flight, when PC's Florence, S.C. duo of junior Lisa Moyer and sophomore Brittany Lanford out-dueled sophomore Ashley Heard (Atlanta, Ga.) and Natalie Stoppelli 9-7.

In singles, PC freshman Abby Diminich (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) picked up the first point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over freshman Courtney Hargreaves. The Lady Blue Hose lead would increase to 4-0 as Lanford and Fuller would win in straight sets.

Moyer would give PC the match-clinching point at No. 3 singles as she defeated Kutuk 6-2, 6-2.

The Buccaneers would pick up points at No. 1 and No. 2 singles as Tazi defeated junior Catherine Bankhead (Amarillo, Texas) 6-3, 6-7, 11-9 and Franzi defeated Brown 7-5, 7-6.
