NCAA DIVISION II SOUTHEAST REGIONAL

The No. 5-ranked Fighting Knights of Lynn University swept
all three doubles matches en route to a 6-0 victory over No.
21 Presbyterian College in NCAA Division II Southeast
Regional women's tennis action Friday morning. The Fighting
Knights improve to 20-1 on the season, while the Lady Blue
Hose end the season at 18-4.
Lynn jumped out to a 3-0 advantage after doubles as
sophomore Alexandra Schunk (Eggdsheim, Germany) and
freshman Alejandra Boeker (Buenos Aires, Argentina)
defeated PC's duo junior
Lauren Brown
(Gaffney, S.C.) and sophomore
Kari Fuller
(Suwanee, Ga.) 8-1 at the No. 3 flight and senior Dragana
Ilic (Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro) and sophomore
Victoria Weltz (Pforzheim, Germany) defeated junior
Lisa Moyer
(Florence, S.C.) and sophomore
Brittany Lanford
(Florence, S.C.) 8-1 at the No. 2 flight. In the final
doubles match, Lynn's junior duo of Gedvile Norkute
(Vilnius, Lithuania) and Leigh Shelton (Plantation,
Fla.) defeated PC's duo of junior
Catherine Bankhead
(Amarillo,
Tex.) and freshman
Abby Diminich
(Myrtle Beach, S.C.) 8-4 at the top flight.
Lynn's top of the singles lineup showed their strength as
Weltz, the Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year,
pushed past Bankhead 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 position.
Finishing at the same time, Schunk defeated Brown 6-1, 6-0
at the second spot and Norkute took down Diminich 6-3, 6-0
at the third position to end the match.
The Knights will face the winner of the No. 4 seed Florida
Gulf Coast/No. 5 seed Nova Southeastern match tomorrow in
the regional championship at 10 a.m. The winner will advance
to the Round of 16 at the National Championships in Kansas
City, Mo. on May 10-13.
