Saturday, March 4, 2006 LADY BLUE HOSE OPEN SAC ACTION WITH WIN OVER MARS HILL CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis started South Atlantic Conference (SAC) play on the right foot with a 9-0 victory over Mars Hill College at Templeton Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The No. 25 Lady Blue Hose are now 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the SAC, while Mars Hill slips to 6-2 on the year and 1-1 in the conference. Junior Lisa Moyer (Florence, S.C.) handed the Lions’ junior Whitney Stroud (Spindale, N.C.) her first loss of the season at No. 3 singles as Moyer beat her in straight sets, 6-2 and 6-0. Stroud had come into the match with a 7-0 mark. Stroud and junior Nancie Gruber (Bad Rappanau, Germany) came into today with a 6-0 record at No. 1 singles but PC’s duo of junior Catherine Bankhead (Amarillo, Texas) and sophomore Kathryn Kleckley (Lexington, S.C.) gave Mars Hill their first loss of the season by a score of 8-2. The Lady Blue Hose return to action tomorrow when PC hosts No. 7 Rollins College at noon in non-conference action. Mars Hill will travel to Converse College on Tuesday, March 7, for a non-conference game at 3:00.
