LADY BLUE HOSE BEAT NEWBERRY IN SAC TENNIS ACTION
NEWBERRY, S.C.- The Newberry College women's tennis team lost its first home conference match of 2006 this afternoon to No. 25 Presbyterian College, 7-2.
With Presbyterian sweeping the doubles matches, Newberry's hope for an upset would have to rest on singles play. The Lady Blue Hose swept four of six singles matches in straight sets en route to the victory.
Newberry's Chanelle Clare won at the number four position against Kathryn Kleckley, 6-4, 6-2, while Bethany Poppe also put up a team point in her number five singles match against Cassie Martin, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 for the Lady Indians only points of the match.
Newberry will travel to Wingate, N.C. to for a match against Wingate University on Wednesday, March 29 at 2:30 p.m. Presbyterian will host Limestone College at the same time.
