Presbyterian College's Lauren Brown Named Food Lion SAC Tournament MVP

ROCK HILL, SC — Presbyterian College junior Lauren Brown (Gaffney, S.C.) was named the 2006 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament Most Valuable Player, after helping to lead the Blue Hose to the tournament championship.

Brown, the 2006 SAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year, defeated Carson-Newman's Tessa Caprio 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals and Tusculum's Danae Valderrama 6-3, 6-1 in the championship. She also teamed with Kari Fuller for a pair of doubles wins.

Brown was one of five Blue Hose named to the All-Tournament Team. Also making the All-Tournament Team from Presbyterian are junior Lisa Moyer (Florence, S.C.), sophomore Brittany Lanford (Florence, S.C.), freshman Abby Diminich (Myrtle Beach, S.C.), and junior Catherine Bankhead (Amarillo, Tex.).

Tournament runner-up Tusculum placed Claudia Bolivar and Maria Nevarez on the All-Tournament Team.

Carson-Newman's Erika Bellettini rounds out the All-Tournament Team.
