PC Claims An 8-1 Win Over Catawba In First SAC Match Of The Year
CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian women’s tennis team
dropped only one match in an impressive 8-1 victory over
Catawba on Saturday afternoon at Callaway Courts.
With the win PC improves to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in
South Atlantic Conference play. The Indians drop to 3-4 on
the season and 0-1 in conference play.
The Lady Blue Hose took the doubles point by sweeping all
three matches. PC won five of the six singles matches with
the lone loss coming in the No. 1 match-up where Catawba’s
Lauren Fluegge edged Catherine Bankhead, 6-2, 3-6, 11-9.
Presbyterian went on to take the remaining five matches in
straight sets. Brittany Lanford remains undefeated on the
season with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 6 singles.
Lauren Brown improved to 3-1 on the year as she downed Julia
McKinzie in straight sets 6-0, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.
The Lady Blue Hose will travel to Winter Park, Fla. to face
Rollins on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
