          Lady Blue Hose Down Newberry 7-2 In Women’s Tennis

CLINTON, S.C. – The Lady Blue Hose defeated rival Newberry College 7-2 in women’s tennis action on Monday afternoon. With the victory PC improves to 6-4 overall and remains undefeated at 3-0 in the South Atlantic Conference.

Newberry falls to 1-4 overall and is now 0-1 in league play.

The Lady Blue Hose won two of three in doubles, including an impressive 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles by Lisa Moyer and Brittany Lanford over Newberry’s duo of Isabel Kreidler and Bethany Poppe.

Kari Fuller picked up her fourth straight win at No. 4 singles over Newberry’s Tanea Miller 6-2, 6-3. Lauren Brown came from behind to defeat Newberry’s Autise Mortimer 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 in No. 1 singles and Brittany Lanford claimed her team-high seventh victory in impressive fashion over Chanelle Clare 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

The Lady Indians picked up their only win at No. 6 singles with Bethany Poppe securing a victory over Megan Davis in the third set 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.

The Lady Blue Hose will next take on USC Upstate at home on March 23. The match is set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
