PC's Women's Tennis Team Wins Second Straight

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team picked up its second consecutive victory over an NCAA Division I opponent on Saturday with a 5-2 victory over UNC Asheville at the Asheville Racquet Club.

After UNC Asheville claimed the doubles point after winning two of the three matches, Presbyterian claimed the overall victory after winning five of the six single matches.

Lauren Brown won at No. 2 singles with a 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (3) win over UNCA’s Louise Bottomley. Catherine Bankhead defeated Rachel Roaney of UNC Asheville, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to garner a win at No. 3 singles.

Lisa Moyer won in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 over the Bulldogs’ Tamia Mateva at No. 4 singles, while Karis Fuller downed Whitney Abbott 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to tally a win at No. 5 singles.

Freshman Megan Davis won at No. 6 singles to acquire the first win of her intercollegiate career.

No. 34 PC improves to 2-1 on the season with the victory. They have one week off before opening league play next Saturday at 1 p.m. against Catawba.
