Women’s Tennis Stays Perfect In SAC Action
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 28 Presbyterian College women's
tennis team defeated Tusculum College 7-2 Friday afternoon
at the Nichols Tennis Complex. With the victory, the Lady
Blue Hose clinch at least a share of their 11th South
Atlantic Conference championship and their third league
crown in a row.
Presbyterian (10-5, 6-0 SAC) captured two of the three
doubles points, including an 8-3 pro set win by the No. 3
pair of Brittany Lanford and Lisa Moyer. Tusculum (12-5,
4-3 SAC) captured a doubles point at the No. 2 flight as
Danae Valderrama and Samantha Cantu defeated Lauren Brown
and Virginia Waldron 8-6.
Moyer and Catherine Bankhead won their respective singles
matches at the second and third flights in straight sets.
Valderrama accounted for Tusculum's lone singles point with
a three-set victory over Brown at the top flight, 6-1, 5-7,
6-1.
Kari Fuller, Lanford and Megan Davis closed out the victory
for Presbyterian with wins in the remaining singles matches.
Presbyterian will have a chance
to claim the outright SAC crown on Saturday when the Lady
Blue Hose host Wingate University.
