College football concluded its second day of two practices
on Monday. The Blue Hose practiced around two hours in the
morning, focusing mainly on special teams once again in the
morning practice. Monday’s evening practice was PC’s 10th
practice of the preseason.

Scrimmage Of Preseason
CLINTON,
S.C. – The Presbyterian College football team held its
first day of two practices on Saturday. PC’s first practice
took place from 9:15 a.m. until around 11:30 a.m.and it
focused mainly on special teams. The Blue Hose then held
their second practice of the afternoon at Bailey Memorial
Stadium, holding a 100-play scrimmage that began at 4 p.m.Full

Hose were for the third consecutive day forced to practice
at night by the extreme heat.
The Blue
Hose will return their practice to the afternoon on Friday
when they participate in their fifth practice of training
camp at 4 p.m. PC will be donning full pads for the first
time in Friday’s practice.

standout Ryan Bowers has started off his first season with
the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League very
strong. Through the Predators’ first three games of the 2007
campaign, Bowers has started all three games for Orlando at
defensive back and is currently first on the team in
interceptions with three. He is also third on the squad in
total tackles with 16.5

Season On Tuesday

football team will open its first spring season under the
direction of new football coach Bobby Bentley at 4 p.m. on
Tuesday, Mar. 20. The Blue Hose will practice 14 times over
the next three weeks before ending their spring season with
the annual spring football game at 10 a.m. on Saturday,

Football Releases 2007 Schedule
CLINTON, S.C.
– New Presbyterian
College Football Coach Bobby Bentley and PC Director of
Athletics Dr. William B. “Bee” Carlton announced PC’s 2007
Blue Hose football schedule on Thursday. The 2007 season
marks PC’s first year of transition into the NCAA Division I
Football Championship Subdivision. The schedule will feature
many new challenges for the Blue Hose, including eight away
football games and 11 consecutive weeks of action without an
open date. The schedule will also feature a Thursday night
contest against Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. on
Thursday, Sept. 13.

New Presbyterian College football coach
Bobby Bentley announced the signing of 21 student-athletes
to National-Letters-of-Intent on Wednesday. Bentley’s first
recruiting class at Presbyterian has a strong in-state feel
as 16 of the 21 recruits played their high school football
in the Palmetto state.

Staff
CLINTON, S.C. – New Presbyterian College football coach
Bobby Bentley along with PC Director of Athletics Dr.
William B. “Bee’ Carlton recently announced the naming of
the 2007 PC Football defensive staff. Julius Dixon will
serve as the defensive coordinator. Phil Magdic will be
Presbyterian’s assistant head coach and linebackers coach,
while Reuben Wright will coach the defensive line. Deke
Herrin will serve as a defensive assistant.

College football coach Bobby Bentley along with PC Director

PC Keeps Bronze Derby
In Clinton
CLINTON, S.C.
-
Presbyterian’s defense stole the show in the 60th
edition of the Bronze Derby, shutting out Newberry’s
offense in a 10-0 win before 5,982 at Bailey
Memorial Stadium.
In what may be the final game in the Newberry-Presbyterian
football rivalry the Bronze Derby stayed in the hands of the
Presbyterian faithful. Presbyterian ends the series with a
35-22-3 record in the Bronze Derby series since its outset
in
1947.
Overall, Presbyterian concludes the 95-game rivalry with an
all-time series advantage of 58-32-5.

Presbyterian Falls 21-14 To
Catawba
SALISBURY, N.C. – No. 25 Presbyterian
gave up 14 unanswered points and the Catawba
Indians defeated the Blue Hose 21-14 before
3,812 at Shuford Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for
the Blue Hose and leaves them at 6-4 overall and
4-2 in the South Atlantic Conference. Catawba
improves to 5-4 and 2-4 in SAC play with the
victory.

CLINTON,
S.C. – Presbyterian scored 21 points in the
first quarter and never looked back, defeating
No. 20 Carson-Newman 28-7 before 3,421 at Bailey
Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Hose have now picked up three straight
victories over the Eagles and four in the last
six seasons. The only other team to defeat
Carson-Newman in three consecutive games under
head coach Ken Sparks’ 27-years at the helm is
North Alabama.

was selected to D2football.com’s preseason All-America
team on Monday, earning first team honors. The only Blue

Presbyterian Blue Hose football team reported to campus
on Wednesday, Aug. 2. Presbyterian and head coach Tommy
Spangler welcomed almost 100 football players, as 96
players were listed on the roster at the opening of the
team’s training camp.

BOWERS TO REPORT TO FALCONS TRAINING CAMP
CLINTON, S.C. - Former Presbyterian
football standout Ryan Bowers will report on Thursday,
July 27 to the first day of the Atlanta Falcons Training
Camp in Flowery Branch, Ga. A four-year letterman for
the Blue Hose, the Atlanta camp will be the first
National Football League camp of Bowers’ career and the
first for any PC football player since former
Presbyterian wide receiver and 2001 All-American D.J.
Humphries participated in the Baltimore Ravens camp in
2001.

FOOTBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO
ALL-AMERICA TEAM
PITTSBURG, Kan. - PC’s Chad Burgess
(right),
Justin Durant and Antwan Thomas have been
chosen to
Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-America Team.
The honor is the third preseason All-America nod for
Burgess (Lindy’s and Street & Smith’s) and the
second for Thomas (Lindy’s). Durant’s naming to
the Football Gazette’s All-America list is the

Defending league champion Presbyterian College was
picked to finish second in the South Atlantic Conference
2006 football campaign in a media poll conducted during
the league’s annual media day on Friday, July 21.

COACHES TAB PC SECOND
SALISBURY, N.C. – The preseason
coaches poll was unveiled Friday, July 21 at the South
Atlantic Conference football media day. Presbyterian,
the defending conference champions coming off a 7-0
conference mark, are picked to finish second in the
league according to the coaches poll.
