Just a month after being hit by a devastating earthquake as well as a tragic tsunami, Japan suffered the wrath of Mother Nature yet again as it was ravaged by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake. The quake made much fear that another tsunami would come and sweep over the already devastated country. The earthquake struck around 11:30 Thursday night. The quake unnerved many nearly a month after the northeastern coast was flattened by the turbulent weather.
NHK, one of Japan’s public broadcasters advised the residents of the northeast to move to higher ground away from the shore. This warning was issued to the same area affected by last month’s tsunami. The last tsunami was believed to have killed 25, 000. In addition, it sparked the nuclear crisis that has been carefully observed all around the world.
Japanese officials say that the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plants showed no immediate sign of the aftershock causing new problems. Japan’s nuclear safety agency proclaimed that the relief workers retreated to a quake-resistant shelter within the complex and that no one was injured.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families that have been affected by these unfortunate series of events.
