Vance Ethics Lecture Series

The Robert M. Vance Lecture Series on Business Ethics is funded by a generous gift from the Bailey Foundation and is named after the late Robert M. Vance. Mr. Vance considered ethics, honesty, and integrity to be extremely important and lived these qualities as a business leader in Clinton, SC. This program is a tribute to his legacy. The speakers, CEOs, or other top managers address business ethics as the overall theme. The series consists of a two-day program each spring semester and a one-day program each fall semester.

The two-day program includes:

  • Meeting with students in business classes
  • Lecturing to the campus community
  • Attending a panel discussion
  • Meeting with local business leaders during a reception

The one-day program includes:

  • Meeting with students in business classes
  • Lecturing to the campus community

The 2012 speaker, Mike Baur, CEO of ScanSource, spoke about his Greenville, SC based company that he began in 1992. Baur offered advice to PC students studying business and talked about the importance of living out company value statements and learning profit and loss.

The 2011 speaker, HGTV President and ’85 PC alumnus Jim Samples, spoke in Edmunds Hall and also met with students to give career advice on broadcasting and other dream careers.
