Welcome to the Department of Economics and Business Administration

Our department is the largest one on campus, home to approximately 25 percent of all students who have declared majors.  We believe that our students get the best of both worlds:  the benefit of a challenging liberal arts education (which has proved to be successful for hundreds of years) and the opportunity to earn a degree in a field that makes them attractive to employers and graduate programs or prepares them to start their own businesses.

In many ways, the Department of Economics and Business Administration is like a large family. Our students tend to stay connected to our Department, even many years after they have graduated. Every week, at least one of our faculty members receives a letter, a phone call, an e-mail, or a personal visit from a former student – sometimes to ask for advice or help solving a business problem and sometimes just to say “thanks.”  That’s what we as teachers find most rewarding: Knowing that we have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of our students and to give them the tools they need to launch successful careers.
