2012-2013 Greek Life Award Recipients

Each year the fraternities and sororities are asked to submit information for the following awards. These awards are then voted on by Campus Life staff members.

The Scholarship Award is based on information submitted by the chapters explaining their scholarship program and how it is implemented and monitored.

The Community Service Award is based on a community service project that the chapter planned, organized, and carried out during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Philanthropy Award is based on a philanthropy event that the chapter planned, organized, and carried out during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Educational Programming Award is based on an educational event to benefit the members of the chapter that was planned, organized, and carried out during the 2012-2013 academic year.

Fraternities with GPAs higher than the all-male GPA and Sororities with GPAs higher than the all-female GPA for the 2012 spring and fall semesters are awarded the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.
The Outstanding Academic Achievement Award recipients: Alpha Sigma Phi, Kappa Alpha Order, Sigma Nu, and Alpha Delta Pi.

The Outstanding Chapter of the Year award is based on information submitted by the chapter about scholarship, service, financial management, national headquarters and alumni relations, risk management, new member education, chapter conduct, and chapter accomplishments.

Each chapter had the opportunity to nominate a fraternity or sorority, aside from their own organization, for the Spirit of Greek Life Award. The chapter had to explain why they nominated the fraternity or sorority as well as how this fraternity or sorority had best demonstrated its values, the values of Presbyterian College and Greek unity through the actions of its members, events, and communication in the 2012-2013 academic year. The recipient of the Spirit of Greek Life award was Sigma Sigma Sigma.

Outstanding Greek Scholar: David Sellman (Kappa Alpha Order) and Katie Anderson (Sigma Sigma Sigma)

Greek Athlete of the Year: Richard Taylor (Pi Kappa Phi) and Lucia Leahy (Alpha Delta Pi)

Greek Leader of the Year: Cameron Lawson (Kappa Alpha Order) and Mary Haley Thompson (Zeta Tau Alpha)

New Member of the Year: Myers Jones (Sigma Nu) and Annacie Sastry (Alpha Delta Pi)
