SEMESTER CLOSING AND OPENING INFORMATION

RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES CLOSE AT NOON ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13TH
Students who have to remain on campus after 12:00pm on Saturday, December 13, 2014, during the break, or return early from the break, must contact and receive permission from the Residence Life Office to stay.  Students should email requests to Chad Hickman, Assistant Director of Residence Life, at cwhickman@presby.edu by Wednesday, December 3, 2014.  No students will be approved to stay in any residential facilities between December 22, 2014 and January 2, 2015.  IMPORTANT:  Any student remaining on campus over any portion of the Semester break without prior approval by the Residential Life Office will be referred to Student Conduct.

HALL OPENING AND RETURN TO CAMPUS
All college residential facilities will reopen at 9:00 am on Sunday, January 4, 2015.  It is expected that all returning students will move back into their residence halls after that time.

PEOPLE NOT RETURNING NEXT SEMESTER AND THOSE CHANGING ROOMS
If you are not returning to PC next semester (internships, study abroad, etc…), you must check out of your room with your RA, RD, or an Assistant Director.  Students who have already received permission to change their room assignments are reminded that these changes must be made before you leave for the break.  Failure to properly check out of your room and/or return your key will result in a series of fines.  Residents who are moving out MUST clean their space and remove all personal belongings from the room.

QUIET HOURS DURING EXAMS
24-hour quiet hours begin Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2:00am and last through Friday, December 12, 2014 at 3:00pm.  No warnings are given for quiet hours violations during the exam period.

DINING IN JANUARY
Dining services for the spring semester begin with dinner on Sunday, January 4, 2015.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE

  1. Clean out your refrigerator – refrigerators do not need to be defrosted or unplugged.  This is the one appliance that you can leave plugged into an outlet in your room.
  2. Thoroughly clean room before leaving.  Empty wastebaskets and discard perishable food.
  3. Lock windows and unplug all electronics.
  4. Do not leave valuables in the room.
  5. Turn off all lights and lock the door.
  6. The last resident of each room to leave should post the door sign given to you by your RA/RD.
  7. A residential life staff member will check each room for compliance with the above expectations.

COLLEGE HEALTH AND SAFETY INSPECTIONS
Safety inspections will be conducted in rooms after students leave.  While the purpose of these inspections is not to search for policy violations, we are obligated to report any and all violations we see in the course of our safety inspection (i.e. empty alcohol containers, candles, theft of College property, etc.).  Note that we will not look in drawers or closets; however, we will take note of any concerns in “plain view”.  Take this opportunity to take prohibited items home with you.
