Residence Hall Closing Information

Residence Halls will close on Saturday, May 3rd at 10 a.m.

Important Dates:

Friday, April 25th: Deadline for faculty, staff, and students to submit Late Stay Request to reside on campus beyond 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3rd.

Friday, April 25th: Deadline for underclassmen students to sign up for a check-out time with their CA.

Monday, April 28th – Friday, May 2nd: Final Exams

Saturday, May 3rd at 10 a.m.: Residence Halls close. Any student without permission to stay beyond this date must check-out with CA.

Monday, May 5th – Friday, May 9th: Beach Week. CA on call for campus to assist students.

Saturday, May 10th at 6 p.m.: All residence facilities are closed (including senior spaces). CAs and Community Life staff members available to assist with check-out for all seniors and approved late stay students.

 

Late Stay Requests

Students may submit Late Stay Requests to reside on campus beyond Saturday, May 3rd at 10 a.m. The Late Stay Request form must be submitted by Friday, April 25th at 5 p.m. in the Office of Community Life on the second floor of Springs Campus Center. Requests will be granted or denied by Monday, April 28th. Please note that not all requests are granted. Please have an alternate plan in case your request is not granted. Community Life may have to temporarily relocate you based off your request and space availability.

 

Check-Out Procedures: Underclassmen

To check out of rooms, residents should:

 1.   Schedule a check out appointment with your CA by signing up on the schedule posted on his/her door.  You must sign up for an appointment by Friday, April 25th.

 2.  PRIOR to your scheduled appointment, you must:

    • Remove all personal items and trash from your room.
    • Thoroughly clean the room and bathroom.
    • Return bed pegs to your CA.
    • Return furniture to its original location and set up
    • Remove ALL adhesive materials, tape, thumbtacks, and all other materials used to hang or secure items on walls, doors, ceilings, and floors.

  3.  You must meet with your CA and/or Community Life staff at your room for your scheduled check-out appointment to review the condition of your room, return your key, and sign the Room Condition Report.

 

Check-Out Procedures: Seniors and Approved Late Stay

Community Life Staff members will be available to assist with check-out at the locations listed below during the following times:

Saturday, May 10th from 12 pm – 6 pm

Area 1: Students in Fraternity Court and the Townhouses who need assistance will need to go to the Community Life table at the Townhouse parking lot

Area 2: Students in Spradley, Grotnes, Barron, CIH, Clinton, Belk and Reynolds who need assistance will need to check with Community Life staff in the Spradley Hall Classroom.

Area 3: Students in Scottish Arms, Georgia, Laurens, Bailey, and Smyth who need assistance will need to go to the Community Life table in the Georgia Lobby.

To check out of rooms, residents should:

 1.  PRIOR to moving out, you must:

    • Remove ALL personal items and trash from your room.
    • Thoroughly clean the room and bathroom.
    • Return bed pegs to your CA.
    • Return furniture to its original location and set up
    • Remove ALL adhesive materials, tape, thumbtacks, and all other materials used to hang or secure items on walls, doors, ceilings, and floors.

2. You must meet with your CA and/or Community Life staff at the designated area mentioned above to review the condition of your room, return your key, and sign the Room Condition Report.

 

Bed and Fridge Instructions

Any bunked beds should be un-bunked. If students used bed pegs to bunk the beds, please be sure to give those back to your CA at your scheduled check-out time.

Please remove all items from mini-fridges and/or PC issued fridges. Personal min-fridges should be unplugged, cleaned, and dried. The fridge and freezer doors should not be left open. If you live in Spradley, Scottish Arms, or the Townhouses, do not forget to remove all items from pantries and drawers.

 

Billing Information

Improper check-out may result in a fine being placed on your Banner account. Students who do not check-out properly may be charged $100, and students who have lost their key or do not return it may be charged $25. Fines for damages to rooms and apartments will be assessed and determined based off its severity. Communal charges will be charged to all residents living in this room, apartment, or residence facility evenly. Community Life will contact you if any fine is issued.

 

Trash and Recycling

All trash must be removed from the rooms and apartments. Extra dumpsters will be provided behind the residence facilities.

 

Donations

If you are interested in donating any of your items, there will be a number of donation centers stationed around the residence halls and campus.

 

Storing Items on Campus

PC is unable to provide storage for residents’ personal belongings over the summer or for a short period of time. Any items left in rooms after Saturday, May 10th at 6 p.m. may be disposed of or donated.
